Micro-workshop attendees can sign up for two of the four micro-workshops, one from each time slot. Micro-workshop attendees should arrive at 17:00 to have enough time to register and eat a delicious dinner broodje before the start of the first workshop. Each micro-workshop has space for 25 people.

How to deal with stress 

Micro-workshop (17:55 - 18:40, in English)

Stress is inseparable from our life, but it has a positive influence only if present in a healthy amount. We deal with stress in our private and professional life and you do not want to top that with stress in your volunteer work as it’s something consciously chosen and ideally would like it to be a source of great fulfilment. Working in education, be it mainstream or in a heritage language program, comes with a lot of responsibility and is often underestimated and thus potentially causing a lot of stress. How to make sure that this type of work does not contribute to your stress level? How to identify sources of stress and which techniques apply in your (volunteer) work to optimize it and at the same time preserve your peace of mind? This workshop will address these and other related questions.

More about the workshop leader

Anna completed her English teacher training at the University of Wrocław. Subsequently obtained her degree in English linguistics at the University of Utrecht and completed her doctorate in linguistics at the Institute of Linguistics Uil-OTS at the University of Utrecht (specialization: foreign language learning and phonology). She has worked as a researcher and lecturer at the same university. She is currently involved in several projects in the the field of bilingualism, foreign language learning and multiculturalism. Since 2018, she has served as the director of Polish School Eindhoven. She first joined the Polish School as a mother of bilingual children, then became a teacher for children 6-8 years old and soon she was given the leadership of the school. Anna expanded the school, established a Polish School Eindhoven Foundation and got involved with local and (inter)national projects that promote knowledge about bilingualism and education in the language of origin.

Een veilige omgeving, dat wilt iedereen. Of dit thuis, op je werk of op je vrijwilligerswerk is. Je wilt er voor zorgen dat iedereen zich veilig voelt. Maar hoe zit dat op je vrijwilligerswerk? Wie is daar verantwoordelijk voor? En hoe zorg je ervoor dat het veilig blijft? Het begint met het bewust worden van wat er kan gebeuren en dit ook bespreekbaar te maken. Tijdens deze workshop gaan we het hebben over wat sociale veiligheid is, het belang van preventiebeleid en hoe jij ervoor kan zorgen dat je dit goed regelt. Want “prevention is better than cure”. Na deze workshop weet jij welke stappen je kunt nemen om een (gratis) VOG aan te vragen bij de gemeente. Iedereen die verbonden is aan een (vrijwilligers)organisatie of werkt met vrijwilligers kan aansluiten bij deze workshop. Om deze te kunnen volgen is het belangrijk dat je voldoende Nederlands verstaat, gezien deze workshop in het Nederlands wordt gegeven. Eindhoven Doet zal een stand hebben tijdens de networking event (vanaf 19:30), waar je vragen in het Engels mag stellen.

De missie van Eindhoven Doet is het versterken van de vrijwillige inzet in Eindhoven. Want vrijwillige inzet zorgt voor een fijne stad met een sterke sociale basis. Dit doen we door organisaties die werken met vrijwilligers te adviseren, informeren en ondersteunen. Ook ondersteunen wij vrijwilligers die zich willen inzetten voor de stad. De wereld van vrijwilligerswerk is dynamisch, dus Eindhoven Doet ook. We helpen organisaties om met de laatste trends en ontwikkelingen aantrekkelijker te worden voor potentiële vrijwilligers. Ook hebben wij een app ontwikkelt, Jijdoet040, waarop iedereen makkelijk een leuke vrijwilligersklus kan vinden. Kirstie werkt sinds 2021 als adviseur vrijwillige inzet bij Eindhoven Doet en organiseert onder andere workshops en trainingen voor organisaties en vrijwilligers. Ook ondersteund zij graag organisaties in het aantrekken van nieuwe doelgroepen, zoals jongeren of nieuwkomers.

Stress is onlosmakelijk verbonden met ons leven, maar heeft alleen een positieve invloed als het in een gezonde hoeveelheid aanwezig is. We hebben te maken met stress in ons privé- en professionele leven en daar wil je niet bovenop komen met stress in je vrijwilligerswerk, want het is iets waar je bewust voor kiest en het liefst zou je willen dat het een bron van grote voldoening is. Werken in het onderwijs, zowel in het reguliere onderwijs als op een zaterdagschool, brengt veel verantwoordelijkheid met zich mee en wordt vaak onderschat. Daarom kan het mogelijk veel stress veroorzaaken. Hoe zorg je ervoor dat dit soort werk niet ​aan jouw stressniveau bijdraagt ? Hoe kun je bronnen van stress identificeren en welke technieken pas je toe in je (vrijwilligers)werk om het te optimaliseren en tegelijkertijd je gemoedsrust te behouden? Deze workshop gaat in op deze en andere gerelateerde vragen.

Anna heeft haar lerarenopleiding Engels afgerond aan de Universiteit van Wrocław. Vervolgens behaalde ze haar graad in Engelse taalkunde aan de Universiteit van Utrecht en voltooide ze haar doctoraat in taalkunde aan het Institute of Linguistics Uil-OTS aan de Universiteit van Utrecht (specialisatie: het leren van vreemde talen en fonologie). Ze heeft gewerkt als onderzoeker en docent aan dezelfde universiteit. Momenteel is ze betrokken bij verschillende projecten op het gebied van tweetaligheid, het aanleren van vreemde talen en multiculturalisme. Sinds 2018 is de directeur van Poolse School Eindhoven. Ze voegde zich eerst bij de Poolse school als moeder van tweetalige kinderen, werd vervolgens lerares voor kinderen van 6-8 jaar oud en snel kreeg ze de leiding van de school. Anna heeft de school uitgebreid, een Stichting Poolse School Eindhoven opgericht en betrokken geraakt met locale en (inter)nationale projecten die kennis over tweetaligheid en onderwijs in de taal van herkomst verspreiden.

This workshop provides an insight into the nuts and bolts of activities in which science and heritage language can enrich each other. Using examples of activities done by the Romanian School in Eindhoven, this workshop aims to enable every heritage language education program to start and manage similar courses/activities. The workshop is targeted to teachers and managers of heritage language education programs -- but anyone interested in the bridge between science and heritage language education is welcome to attend!

Vlad Niculescu-Dincă is a researcher and professor at Leiden University, Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, and president of the Romanian School in Eindhoven Foundation. Combining a passion for science with a multidisciplinary background in philosophy, ethics, technology and governance, Vlad initiated and teaches at the Romanian School in Eindhoven, the course "STREAM - Romanian scientists and their disciplines". The course offers children the opportunity to get acquainted with the expertise of a network of Romanian scientists and engineers in the diaspora. Through the R in the title, the course specifically supports two things: on the one hand, it emphasizes the importance of Reading and writing skills as key elements in STEAM education. On the other hand, it refers to the use of Romanian language in the scientists' presentations, and in interactions with experts as a way to keep in touch with the Romanian scientific environment and, more broadly, with Romanian language and culture. The practical workshops are open for everyone during public events.
